About Me:
My name is Colby Bealing. I am a junior that attends South Western High School. I am really into things that involve Math and different types of engineering.
I am involved in a couple of sports at South Western High School. In the fall, I played for the 9th grade football team. Also In the spring, I played for the varsity baseball team. Outside of school, Once the high school baseball season is over, I roll right into summer baseball until the end of September. I play for a team called Five Star National. With my baseball team, I will travel down the east coast and play tournaments with them in places like Georgia and Florida. With my team I get lots of college looks and also get recruited. I also do lots of weight training and stuff to make myself stronger and better. My dream Is to Play College Baseball at the Division 1 Level. My Dream Jobs are to be a Major League Baseball Player, or if baseball does not work out I want to create and run my own wood bat company and supply MLB players with bats. |

PLTW-IED Project Lead The Way (PLTW)-Introduction to Engineering and Design (IED) is a very complex course that is taught by Mr. Sieg, who is a technology and engineering education teacher who teaches students about the design process, working with online CAD programs, and using different strategies to solve problems. This class allows students to develop skills in three dimensional modeling, technical drawing, problem solving, and analysis.
What Is Important about this class?
In order to succeed in this class, you need to make sure you are consistently doing work and turning it in on time and in an organized manner. Here are some main things that you need to pay attention to in this class:
Assignments:
- Never wait until the night the assignments are due to complete them. The assignments could take hours to complete. From personal experience, it is very hard to complete assignments in a small window or time period especially when baseball got in the way and I would be up all night making sure my assignment was done in time by class the next day.
Also make sure you know what you are doing when completing the assignments. All of the mini assignments given to you at the start of the unit lead up to what you have to do for the project of that unit. If you do not understand the assignments it will affect you when you start the project and cause you to get a bad grade and it will make your overall grade in the class suffer as well.
Peer Evaluations:
-After every project, you will have to evaluate your partner(s) on how they did as a member of the group. It is important to be completely honest with your partner so that they know what areas they need to improve in so they can show growth in those categories in the future.
-Your partner needs to pull their end of the deal when working as a group. provide feedback to your partner on what you liked, disliked, and suggestions or goals that could be worked on.
Using time Wisely:
-If necessary, coming into class early in the morning, coming in for 5th period, or doing work outside of school is always a good way to get more things completed and to get ahead on any work that needs to be completed. Due to my mom being a teacher here at South Western High School, I am always in the building early so I go down and sit in the class room and just work. It helped me throughout the year especially when I had a Baseball game everyday and I would miss 4th period of the class.
